My wife and I have seen several Broadway plays. We have seen many preferred fairs: Cats, The Producers, Wicked, Hamelton... and others. But my favorite was Teddy & Alice, a fictionalized account of the relationship between Teddy Roosevelt and his daughter, Alice. The first Production was 1987 Broadway. We saw it off-Broadway at the Tampa Straus Theater. It was the funniest performance I have ever seen on a stage. We haven't gone for a couple of years, as I prefer my preaching to come from my pulpit at church. I dislike the trend these days, telling me how I am supposed to think and act. I go to shows for entertainment, not virtue signaling. I despise social engineering and the people who think it is their right to dictate how I feel about anything in this world. I have become very anti-woke... That doesn't mean folks don't have a right to be what they want to be; just don't expect a Boomer to forget what a pronoun is and how they have been used for the last 5,000 years. This is not homophobia. I had a gay brother and have a gay son, but neither acted like the confused creatures we are forced to watch dancing naked in our streets. No, I am not one of those far-right guys... On the spectrum of conservatism, I am not over four to five tics left or right of center (depending on the question.) And though I am not a Trump lover… I am glad society has come to its senses and desires to return to the middle of the road. And yes, we should be careful not to let things swing too far the other way. Oh, holy shyte, how did the stupid politics worm its way into this QOTD. I must be in a mood today… No more confirmation hearings for me. And there you thought you were asking one of those safe queries. |
