It's not really a holiday but deserves to be remembered. It's one of many disasters that fade from memory but those who lost their lives deserve to be honored, and not the object of ridicule. I am talking about the Great Molasses Flood that occurred in Boston MA on January 15, 1919 when a huge tank holding Molasses broke open and flooded the streets of Boston. The wave of molasses flowed at 35 mph and killed 21 people. It seems unbelievable, but was a very real and tragic event. So I like to bring it up now and again to keep it alive in history.
