Okay... in Australia at the moment there are very few "banned" books.
The fact that a country feels it can ban a book just because a few people are offended by it is, to me, completely offensive. That is not me trying to be funny, but censorship in any form is one of the three things I find genuinely offensive. And, no, I won't mention the others because WdC is not tolerant.
Anyway, the last book banned in Australia was The Naked Lunch by Burroughs, and it is no longer banned.
In fact, there is only one book currently banned from sale in Australia, or import, and has been since 1985. That is The Anarchist's Cookbook by someone.
Well, I've read it. Read it in high school; one of the rich members of the upper echelon of society (I went to an elite school) had it and passed it around, and it was a fascinating read, even though I didn't understand a lot of it. Wish I'd taken a copy.
Banning books? Seriously? What backwards society bans dozens, even hundreds, of books?
