I've gotten into reading some of the more... I suppose you can say auteur 1970s Marvel comics. I've read bits and pieces of a bit of it like some of Howard the Duck but I figure it's long past time I take a serious dive into it. They're books that really attempted to push the limits of what could be done in a mainstream superhero comic and a lot of them, at least in the cases of guys like Jim Starlin and Steve Englehart, were fueled by psychedelics and interests in things like psychology and occult philosophy.

So you have a lot large focus on things like expanded conciousnesses, becoming one with the universe, cyclical destruction and rebirth and whatnot.
