Q&A and information for all members of HSP |
I know I'm not a part of the class this semester but maybe you all can give me some advice about characters. Thinking about creating your characters do you find it easy or hard? A little bit of both, I've got characters in my head but they are to an extent like blank slates. I write what they are doing, how they are feeling and some of what they look like and what they are wearing but that's just about it. Do you use people you know in your characters development? Most of the time right now I use myself but I just write what I would say and do in the situations in the story. Do you use character charts? Why or why not? Here's where the rubber meets the road. I'm afraid of character charts. I have multiple on my computer and printed off. They scare me becuase I don't want to place the characters in a box. I'm afraid that if I write Kady has a flaw in her chart but while writing she decides she doesn't have that flaw, I have to change the chart. Then what else will change in the chart? Was I wrong about my character to begin with if I write out the chart and they change it while I'm writing the story? ![]() I know you're laughing or at least smirking. Go ahead, I know I'm over thinking this. Hence the reason I was asking for character help. Is it easier creating couples or Individuals? Neither. Because you've got to have them figured out before they can actually get together. ![]() |
