The Beatles Musical Extravaganza

I'd be curious to learn what non-English-speaking musicians have also had a huge impact on music and art. If four (five) lads from Liverpool had such an immense impact on England, America, etc, what musicians from other parts of the world have had similar impacts, at least on a smaller scale. I know that several eastern musicians had a great influence on the Beatles during the time they were learning from the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. What other influences might we find if we look?
