The Beatles Musical Extravaganza

         The most common descriptions of the Beatles as a musical and cultural phenomenon involve the idea of innovation. In a nutshell, the Beatles were experimenters, well known for experimenting not only with music but with sound in general, and not only with sound but with visual expressiveness as well. Half entertaining cartoon and half social commentary, Yellow Submarine brought together a unique new cartoon style with unique dialogue and songs with appeal that is still strong today. A quarter of the way into the 21st century, the music, the ideals, the willingness to try new sounds, sights, and philosophies still lives boldly on though the screaming fans are much quieter now. All of that is part of the Beatles legacy.
