When I was five, it depended on the day. I wanted to be a firefighter, ninja, stunt person, paleontologist, vet who lived in Alaska. The next week was Astronaut/"a robot builder". Week after that I wanted to be an animal trainer.
Twelve year old me still thought eighteen was forever away. She didn't care what she was. She'd wanted to be a thespian. Or at least part of the drama club.
This was about the point where my parents went into "Operation Railroad Our Daughter So She Doesn't Wreck Her Life." My mom helped me register for classes. Drama wasn't on the list. Anything smart sounding like Academic Decathlon or Botany Zoology was their idea.
Don't get me wrong, kid me and adult me both like science. It's just even when I decided I wanted to be a biologist, it was an uphill road. I always struggled with the whole math and chemistry bit of my major. So yeah, after all that the final dream of childhood kinda just fizzled out.
