Writing a book
by IV Author IconMail Icon
Hello hello everyone!

I'm back in my yearly mission where I think I have the ability to finish writing a novel. I've had many attempts over the last years but I've only gotten to the 10k word mark. However this time I think it will be different (that's what I say to myself every year). I've always thought I didn't need planning, when I tried it I've only come up with surface levels things about my characters. This time however, I've actually managed to thoroughly plan the world, my characters and the plot. I even have a small narrative arc to summarise everything.

I realised before I started writing this new project, that in the process of writing something, I'm extremely focused on the ending. I get really excited to write the ending and close my story nicely that I often neglect the middle of the sandwich. So I'm taking a different approach this time. This time I'm writing the ending first, then the beginning, and then moving on the body of the story. I feel if I know exactly what I have written for my ending instead of always thinking about what I'm going to write. It will make my journey easier.

I hope I'll be able to actually finish this project and not run out of motivation a quarter way through!
