I agree that the old newspaper/newsletter is probably gone, paper or otherwise. I would think the closest might be some people that publish gossip, maybe on x2z. Similar might be the Yearbook group or maybe an advertising group that puts out notices of school functions and events.

Is there a "Marketing" or "Journalism" class that may do something or work with the town paper or broadcast stations? How about an English class that publishes poems and stories? Not exactly the same, but similar enough that they could wander around contacting/capturing faces of many different groups. It would all depend on what plot there is for it.
