I like to read/watch stories that have interesting protagonists that are more complicated than classic comic books.(I prefer The Hulk and Guardians of the Galaxy to say 1940s Superman.) I also like the antagonists to have complicated reasons for doing what they're doing to oppose the protagonist. However if I'm going to read/play/watch something, there has to be a clear objective. I'm not really into overly dramatic scenes where there just seems to be huge ass arguments that don't have anything to do with the plot line. (The characters Danny and Jaime from Blue Bloods are two of my least favorite because they're just always bickering.) I don't mind romance if it's not the main thing. On the whole I prefer anything in the Sci-Fi or Fantasy genre. I'll read some horror but I can't stand excessive gore or people being careless and "splitting up to search" or hiding while also hyperventilating and having their feet sticking out. I also dislike the trope where hostages of the "bad guy" don't even bother to fight back. I'll either quit playing the game, yell at the screen or throw down the book. Anyways I'm picky and in a bad mood today. So for those that skipped my rant, prefer well done sci-fi, fantasy and action with well developed characters. |
