What makes you decide to watch a particular movie or series, or read a particular book?

An enticing trailer may get me to watch a movie. For a series, it often has to do with a good first book or movie in that series. For a book - an interesting blurb and the first page of a novel can get me intrigued enough to continue. A good hook is vital.

For some authors I just buy in because I love their style - This is true for Jill Shalvis and Louise Penny.
