I forgot to mention it in the review, but Althea / Thea, the heroine is a play writer. Her writing is a main theme throughout the book. She carries a notebook with her everywhere and even "scandalously" has pockets sewn into two of her ball gowns.

She finds out that her abusive ex stole one of her plays and also gets her first one sold in her own name in the book.
