You train an AI the same way as you train ML (machine learning engine), you ask it to generate something, then tell it whether it was good or not. The purpose of AI is to mimic ingenuity - not thought, but the creative processes.

However bad AI is now at creating a novel (or generating ideas for one), it will get better. One day its work will be indistinguishable from the best a human has ever produced. Not yet, but it will happen. The best idea is not to train an AI to do this, and that means not requesting it generate ideas for you. They learn from everything they produce.
