I wish I could go back to the first time I performed in front of an audience that wasn't made up of my fellow students, parents, and teachers. That would have been way back in fourth grade, when my Elementary School Band played at the 1964-65 World's Fair, in Queens, NY. It was a truly amazing experience for nine-year-old me, the one piece I can remember playing was Selections from "My Fair Lady". The band was directed by Barry Titone, a great teacher and even better musician, who at the time was a featured player with Lionel Hampton and the NY Jets Big Band.
