I'd put the character study and fetish aspect as a 1a and 1b thing for me as they're essentially entertwined. I like the learning about characters I hadn't seen before or seeing new aspects of familiar characters either when Will becomes them or if they're put into new or different situations. The primary motivator is seeing Will in masks and such (and of course, the masks of girls and women) but that in and of itself isn't satisfactory enough, otherwise there's lots of low quality crap I could read instead. It being a vehicle to drive around in the heads of other characters is what makes it interesting.
The horror and comedy I think are whatever for me. I don't mean that to be dismissive but just that it's not going to make or break a story for me. That depends more on the core concept of a branch's story and how much the particular set of characters interest me.
