Purely as an age regression gimmick -- if masks are made that hybrids and not copies of real people -- then it need not be a horror story. I'm talking what I thought WondrousDream was pointing to: An adult using the book to hijack a specific person. Teen-on-teen action is one thing, that's between peers. But the moral queasiness latent in this material becomes a LOT starker when it's adult-on-teen action, and so I think would need to be pitched toward "horror" if it's to fly.
