I like the rocket ships, the technology and the idea that it might someday make it possible to travel to other planets and send really good probes to moons like Europa is the stuff dreams are made of. Starlink can make it possible for anyone on the planet to have internet service without building a costly infrastructure which will be a boon to poorer areas and countries, same with cell to satellite service. I don't think it is a waste, not completely rich men toys, I think it has value (except for Bezos' 15 minute carnival ride for the rich). There are other benefits we don't think about like maybe weather forecasting, it has taken a lot to get to the point where we can create and send those satellites into space. As far as the money spent agree with you but there are plenty of culprits. 'Public' schools in rich neighborhoods are better funded than those in poorer neighborhoods, it shouldn't work that way. Funding for healthcare and the insurance industry in this country is a joke. We spend way too much and the money isn't going to doctors, nurses, assistants, janitors and maintenance - everyone that works day-to-day with patients and keep the hospitals clean, etc. Those that are on the ground doing the work. Maybe doctors shouldn't be on that list but they make a huge investment in time and money and take on responsibility, I have a lot of respect for them. busman ![]() |
