Outside of writing, life continues to have its ups and downs, and life is far from perfect at the moment. Somehow, I have managed to keep all that separate from my writing and reading, though. So, after a couple of good weeks, I ended up having what was probably my best week writing and reading wise for years.
Core Goals
Write, edit, or outline every day: This doesn't really seem like the kind of goal where I should ever be able to give myself double marks. I mean, yes, I made it. I kept my streak going (I have not missed a day of writing for more than month now). But I think I deserve more than just a single mark, though. I had one day of over 1.000 words written, which even when I had more sparetime rarely happened, and I averaged nearly 600 words a day (including one day that was dedicated to editing and so had no new words written). That's a double mark if ever there was one.
Do a review: I did a WYRM review, and of a really long chapter at that, so this is definitely a goal achieved.
Get exercise: I did slightly better this week in I have otherwise done lately. I got 4 exercise/jogging sessions done, but I also managed to do some minor exercises in the in-between days.
Stop snacking: This didn't go perfectly, but I would say close enough to be called a success.
Do vocal exercises: I let them slip a bit towards the end of the week, but before that I was well beyond my initial goal of doing the exercises once or twice a day. So, it averages out to moderate success.
Stretch Goals
Do edits: Well... I did not end up editing one of the stories I had intended, but stuff happened that meant I had to change priorities. Specifically, I got and R&R from an editor, and in my book, that takes priority. So, on the last day of the week, I got some edits done. Just not on the stoy I thought I would be editing.
Read short stories: I did really well with this goal. I aimed for reading 3 published short stories, but I ended having read/listened to more than twice as many.
Read “new” magazines: I did read/listen to some of my regular magazines (Clarkesworld and Flash Fiction Online), but I also returned to Uncanny magazine, which I've neglected a bit lately, as well as Strange Horizon, which I haven't read for years. Also, I got around to reading another story from Interzone Digital (and a really good one at that), which is only the second time I'm reading that magazine. So, with Interzone and Strange Horizon on the list, I'll also count that as a goal achieved.
N/A
Submit short stories: I got no rejections during the week. So resubmitting didn't become relevant. I did follow up on that editorial request mentioned above, though.
Do Fantasticon work: We had a meeting in the planning group this week. I managed to some prep work in relation to one of our guests of honor before the meeting. Plus, I have already completed the assignments I took on at the meeting. So this is definitely a success as well.
