Kind of depends really. I don't know if you've read my stuff - I recommend having something of a slightly darker sense of humor than most for some of my stuff at any rate - but, for a lighter example, my one story in my book "Short Stories and poems" , A Vixen's Thanksgiving Cherry Pie, revolves around the creation of a Cherry Pie. Well, having never made one myself, I did some searching on Youtube, saw a video on how to make one, and watched it, if only to understand the general gist of making them, and thus go from there. I also do something similar for other stories involving cooking - I look it up on Youtube, see how it's done, and adapt it for my stories as needed.
