The last couple of weeks have been rough, and I’ve had to scale down on everything but the core writing goals. This week is also looking busy, but hopefully I can still push myself a bit and achieve more than the last couple of weeks.
I’ve not really raised the bar for any of the goal, but I have added one new goal.
Core Goals
Write, edit, or outline every day: Same number one priority as always. I’m still not adding a word count to this goal, but I hope to keep up the high numbers from last week.
Get exercise: As usual, I hope to get 2-3 exercise sessions done. I've only just succeeded with this goal the last couple of weeks, so I'm hoping to push a bit above the minimum bar this time around.
Stop snacking: Another regular goal, and another goal that has suffered lately. Hopefully, I'll do better this week.
Do vocal exercises: Same as always. I should be doing the vocal exercises 1-2 times a day.
Stretch Goals
Do edits: I got one manuscript ready for review last week, I still have three first drafts from the last couple of weeks' writing sprees. I would like to get around to editing them. The goal is to complete first round edits on at least one short story.
Read short stories: Same goal as I’ve had the last couple of weeks. I want read/listen to at least 3 published short stories.
Read “new” magazines: Once again, I want to force myself to read stories outside of my regular venues (Flash Fiction Online, Clarkesworld, and Podcastle). Basically, reading any magazine that is not one of the three mentioned above will count toward this goal.
Read/listen to non-fiction: This is a new goal on the list and a pretty vague one. I’ve realized lately how much better my short story ideas tend to be, if I’ve done a bit of research before developing the story (instead of just after), so I want to do some non-fiction reading or listen to podcasts to see if spurs any great ideas.
Submit short stories: Once again, I don't really have any short stories waiting to be send out, but in case I do get rejections, I want those stories out again as soon as possible.
Do Fantasticon work: Again, I don't really have anything lined up here either, but if something do pop where I can help out with planning our local con, I want to do so.
