I've seen quite a bit of chatter about third places (or third spaces) being in decline as of late. This has been somewhat surprising to me, as I live in an area with lots of park that get regular use as hangout spaces. There are also lots of coffee shops (although as a caffeine free person this often feels uninviting), and I'm seeing more and more groups taking advantage of dine in seating at local fast casual restaurants. Perhaps where I am I'm lucky that third places are doing alright. However, I know that's not always the case.
In that vein, I'm curious what the third place situation is like for your neck if the woods. Is it actually hard to find third places near you? Does it feel hard to find them? Or do you have a decent number of options?
(Feel free to let me know if you want a link that explains the concept of third places/spaces. )
