I don't really have a childhood favorite costume, but I do have a favorite Adult costume, mainly because it comes with a story.
I was dressed as Raggedy Andy, matching my teaching partner's Annie, when we both taught grade school. The costume was the whole deal: shorts with suspenders and a wig made from a dyed mop. On the way home from work, I had to stop at the local music store to pick up some stuff. After leaving the store, I got pulled over for making a less-than-legal U-turn. The officer approached the car, looked in at me in my costume — and turned and walked back to her car, pulled away from the curb, and drove away.
