Re: Entry In Chapter 1 contest
YAY! You're on your way! Welcome!!!

Technically, you did more work than necessary for your title in the post here. You don't need "Entry in." I just need the contest so "Chapter 1 Contest" was fine or even "Chapter 1" if you want to be lazy. lol I try to get each contest 5 entries, so I like to have the contests listed by you all so I can easily count them and know who I need to advertise more.

Of course, you are welcome to enter whichever one you want, but a pro tip, hop to the forum and see which contest has been entered the least and check to see if it's one you can (AKA are willing to) enter. You have a better chance of winning one that's not got a lot of entries. *Heart*

So, you happened to enter the most popular contest this month. Granted, if you are participating in NaNo Prep, you may not care and this may have paired perfectly with what you are doing, so it makes sense. Also, you may have looked at all 3 and decided you had nothing for the others. But in case you didn't check all 3 contests, it's a suggestion I recommend. The other 2 don't even have 5 entries yet and this has over 5, so there's a lot more competition in this contest this month. But it's fine. I have faith in you!

The other thing with your entry is you posted the item. Technically, I want a link to the post proving you entered, not the item, itself. That just proves you wrote something, not that you entered. lol But it's fine. New folks often make this mistake. *Heart* You enter the challenge with {post:#######} which links to your forum post in the contest forum, not with {item:#######} or {bitem:#######}. (BTW, you don't need the hyphen in a bitem link. *Heart*)

But it's all good. No need to edit this post to change your entry to a {post:#######}. I try to make this easy for you all and count all entries whenever I can. No worries. You get full credit this month. I actually had someone manage to post incorrectly 12 months straight and they still "won." lol It was actually impressive. They didn't make 12 different mistakes, but they did mix it up a bit. I really don't know how they managed to make quite as many mistakes as they did. It was almost as if they were doing it on purpose, like they were running their own challenge. Hahaha!!!

If you're not sure what to do, I have the forum jump tag at the top jump to just above the forum so you can see examples of how to post. You can also look at what others are doing. MOST people are posting correctly, though don't look at the folks who are doing catch-up entries unless you are going to start working backwards, which you totally can.

If you get bored with working forwards at only 1 month at a time, you can do your 12 months as fast as you can work by working backwards doing catch-up entries. Check the Previously Highlighted Contests 2025 dropnote for contests highlighted in September, August, etc. and pick one open each month, enter with the current prompt (so you can win -- old prompts just confuse the judges, but people do that sometimes lol), and post here with the contest name AND the month and year you are catching up so I give you the correct credit. But if you don't want to catch up, just march forward 1 month at a time. If you miss a month, know that catching up is fine. *Heart*

Whether you are going forward or backward, since you started in the middle-ish of the year, you'll be crossing over the New Year. (Unless you opt to work both forward and backward and keep it all in 2025, which is also an option.)

So, if you only move forward (even if you miss a month here and there and have to do some catching up), you began in October 2025, so you'll finish September 2026. You can also work forwards and backwards at the same time so you'll finish faster. You'll meet somewhere in the middle such as maybe March 2025 through February 2026. The main point is you need 12 consecutive months, but crossing over the New Year is fine, so long as they are consecutive, but you can't throw in March 2020 (unless you decide you want to work on a past year, which is also fine, but you can't count that as your March to connect to February 2025 or February 2026).

I hope all that makes sense. Be sure to use the Previously Highlighted Contests 2025 dropnote to know what contests to enter. If a month has nothing available, feel free to reach out to the contest owners to see if they will be opening up soon. If you are almost done, let me know and I'll find a replacement if nothing is open and won't be opening soon. I won't let you fail because there's nothing available to enter. *Heart*

GOOD LUCK! YOU GOT THIS!!! Even if you're just doing the challenge 1 month at a time, ever forward, I believe in you! It's not an easy challenge. I was constantly behind in my own challenge, having to do catch-up entries. Hahaha!

I wish you the best with your entry in Chapter 1 this month!
