Jazz – Cannonball Adderley's "Fiddler on the Roof", This is an interesting treatment of the Broadway show; it includes at least one tune that didn't make it to Broadway. Bill Watrous "Manhattan Wildlife Refuge" Watrous is a trombone player with exceptional skill, is is not my favorite player, but this album got a lot of playtime. Pop – George Martin's "In My Life" — George Martin was often called "the fifth Beatle"; he produced many of the iconic Beatles hits. Many surprises on the disc. Doc Severinsen and the Tonight Show Big Band, Discs One and Two: a crossover from the Jazz category, but it is more Pop-oriented. Many great arrangements of Big Band tunes, including a very original treatment of Glen Miller's "In the Mood". Classical – "Bernstein: West Side Story- Symphonic Dances / Candide- Overture / On the Town- 3 Dance Episodes / On the Waterfront- Orchestral Suite", Bernstein is one of my musical heroes. Stephen Kovacevich's Beethoven: Piano Sonatas, my favorite for relaxing, and this is one of the best recordings of my favorite "Moonlight" |
