The only way to post a PDF here is via the "Document" item type. Essientally what you did was you created the PDF document item and entered the text of the item as the description of the document.

The short answer is that there's no way to use the existing item, since it basically lives to serve that PDF file.

What you need to do is DELETE the Document item and recreate it as a "Static Item".
