There are aspects of AI that absolutely fascinate me, but that’s not really the point here. Robots will have their place, and I’m not losing sleep over them suddenly going rogue. What unsettles me more is the “wetware” — all of us walking around, vulnerable to being taken over. Imagine AI hijacking proteins in our bodies and making them its own. Far-fetched? Probably. Possible? Maybe.
People already steal, cheat, and cause harm, yet if AI makes a single misstep, suddenly it’s the end of the world. Personally, I’d rather see cars driving themselves than watch people behind the wheel behaving like maniacs. Sure, AI can go wrong, but I think the real responsibility lies with us: to be creative, to build, to imagine — not to obsess over what we fear is slipping away.
