I can't recall which book(s) I've returned to the library unread, but I'm pretty sure there've been a couple. One book that almost made the list is "The Fifth Season" by N.K. Jemisin. The set-up and manner in which it was written just didn't grab me like most books I've read. Truth to tell, it was a bit of a slog, but... It was recommended to my by a nephew, so I persevered. It was still convoluted, but I eventually had enough 'background' to make sense of it.
