Goals: New week, new distractions (2025.11.17)
by Tobber Author IconMail Icon
New week, new distractions it seems. The last couple of weeks have been very productive, but every week there also seems to be a new distraction/interruption that keeps me from upping the bar on my goals. Of course, this week is no different.

This time it's my youngest who has gotten the flu, plus I have a dentist appointment to get a couple wisdom teeth removed (yikes!) So, yeah, I probably should aim a little higher this week, but at the same time, I will be happy if I can just stay consistent. So, the goals remain more or less the same.

Core Goals

*Box* Write, edit, or outline every day: Same number one priority as always. Got to stay consistent.

*Box* Get exercise: Another regular goal. The aim is to get 2-3 proper exercise sessions done and at least some brief exercises on the rest of the weekdays. The hope is to do more than this, though.

*Box* Stop snacking: This one has been going really well lately, and it is one goal I really hope to stay consistent with. No sugar during the weekdays except for in my coffee, and while I'm not ready to set a goal for yet, I also hope to quite snacking during the weekend.

*Box* Do vocal exercises: Same as always. I should be doing the vocal exercises 1-2 times a day. This week will probably be in the low end for reasons mentioned above, but again, I've also set a pretty high bar for myself with this one.

Stretch Goals

*Box* Do a review: Another goal where I've achieved the last couple of weeks. I'm actually dropping the bar a bit here, since it doesn't have to be a WYRM review this week (though, I hope it will be).

*Box* Finish edits: I have a comedic fantasy piece I need to complete edits on so that I have it ready for anthology submission window that opens in December.

*Box* Start Danish SF story: This is the one new goal, and the one place where I'm upping my level of ambitions. Submissions for the yearly Danish SF anthology also usually opens in December, so I want to start on my entry.

*Box* Do writing exercises : Aside from my short stories, I also want to keep doing writing exercises once in a while.

*Box* Read short stories: Same goal as I’ve had the last couple of weeks. I want to read/listen to at least 3 published short stories.

*Box* Read “new” magazines: Once again, I want to force myself to read stories outside of my regular venues (Flash Fiction Online, Clarkesworld, and Podcastle).

*Box* Read/listen to non-fiction: I need to read/listen to podcast/chapters about at least 3 different non-fiction subjects. Ideally, they will also be different sources, different podcasts/books.

*Box* Submit short stories: Once again, I don't really have any short stories waiting to be send out, but in case I do get rejections, I want those stories out again as soon as possible.

*Box* Do Fantasticon work: Again, I don't really have anything lined up here either, but if something do pop where I can help out with planning our local con, I want to do so.
