As little as possible.

To be fair, we used to talk to our neighbors quite often. They had kids around our kids' ages, so at least once every couple of weeks, we'd all be outside together while the kids played and would chat. But they moved away and the current renters are a trio of college kids who spend all their time inside playing video games.

There are is a couple that lives a couple of doors down that we get lunch or dinner with every month or two, and we say hi (but don't talk at length much) with our neighbor across the street whenever we're in our (facing) garages at the same time.
