Hellon of Clan Hotsstone 300 words

Hellin of Clan Hotstone stood guardiover the small crop cavern farthest from the main dwelling caverns. She and five other chalk-white Dwarves were armed with their favorite weapon and whatever armor they had inherited or could afford. They were not officially soldiers in the military but hired armed guards on dull duty. The Dimsight of her cat-like eyes allowed the bioluminescent light from the plants that grew in the cavern to light every nook and cranny.

The golden glow of the wheat and pale blue of the lichen on the ceiling was beautiful every time she witnessed it, some took it for granted. The Dwarfwoman liked her abode in the Living Caverns within the Vast Mountain Ranges of the Northern Boundary, but she also was curious about the outside world. The world where the bright sun shone and the moon lit the sky depending upon its cycle...

A Dango attacked Greig! The pack of wild dogs had slipped in through one of the twisting tunnel entrances, while she was daydreaming. Greig screamed and held his torn arm. Like Hellin he wore only breastplate and pauldrons. Also, like Hellin his muscular forearm was a prime target. She lifted her war hammer and scanned for the rest of the pack. They were not lone hunters.

A Dango howled in pain ending with yelp. Someone had struck and incapacitated one of the blood thirsty beasts. The wheat rustled near her. Hellin stood up to her four-foot three height without fear and waited. As with most creatures of underground their eyes could see as well in the dim glow. It leaped as the pack retreated.

Hellin swung her hammer. The blunt head hit the dog, and it fell in a heap. It rasped out its last breath. The others were bandaging Greig. Victory!
