Where all you have to do is read books to receive awesome prizes. |
"King's Ransom" by Janet Evanovich The documentary / true crime element is that the heroine and her sidekicks solve a series of heists and it felt like real time as I read it. Plot - the book centers around Gabriella's childhood friend Harley being set up to take the fall for a bunch of heists his bank insured. To keep him out of jail, she agrees to locate the missing insured items, which include a golden coffin from an Egyptian tomb, and the Rosetta Stone. This is her newest release and I borrowed it from my local library. I was number hundred and something in line so was thrilled to get my turn this month. It was a fun, quick, entertaining read. I wrote a whole review the night I finished it during a sprint but I don't remember which one and have four files so you get this stream of consciousness review instead. Basically, it was ridiculous at times, clever at times, funny at times, and a book that I both looked forward to and enjoyed reading. Gabriella's character seemed different in this book, but her ex husband seemed the same. My favorite side character was Jim the Egyptian tour guide. The book took us from New York City to London, UK, To Egypt, to Florida, and Italy. It was fun to see these places through Gabriella's eyes. The location of the last missing treasure wasn't a great surprise to me, but the presentation of it was. Overall, I enjoyed it and am already looking forward to the next book in the series. |
