"What is something you wished you had learned in school BEFORE high school?" How to keep all those legions of girls from throwing themselves at me all at once. ... okay, okay, you deserve a serious answer, but I just couldn't resist. Serious answer: other languages besides English. Some of those were offered in high school, but not before (I have no idea how they do things nowadays). I think that knowing at least some basics about different languages not only opens one's mind to other perspectives, but helps with understanding and writing English. And I've heard that the best time to learn languages is when you're still young. I'll add that I agree with your history bit (though of course I'd have to substitute US for Oz), but add that what history we were taught was mostly events and dates with little to no context. Once I started pulling together the various threads of history and saw how so much of it is interrelated, I became a lot more interested in the subject. |
