If I'm allowed to do the meal prep, it's most likely going to be a 3 lb canned ham, yams (maybe with marshmallows on top, maybe not), sweet corn, stuffing, dinner rolls, cranberry jelly (no sauce, thank you!), and store-bought pumpkin pie all dressed up in sugar-free Cool Whip. I'll make as much as seems reasonable for the number of expected eaters, which is usually myself, my grandson, my daughter, and her husband. If an item proves especially popular and supplies are running low, then I, as the host, engage hobbit-mode and go without. "What about the turkey?" you ask? Preparing one properly is orders of magnitude beyond being just a simple pain in the 4th point of contact, and I just won't do it. If it's not Thanksgiving or Christmas for you without a turkey, there's a restaurant nearby just waiting for you to grace them with your presence. ![]() |
