I had a "town" when I was 10. Blocks of wood for houses, streets of clay, weeds for trees. We were a factory town, so... I didn't know any engineers or urban planners. I wanted to go to Purdue University (engineering?) and visit Tennessee (11) and Norway (12). I read parts of Richard Halliburton's "Royal Road to Romance" when I was 11-ish. I have no memories of when I was little. I did manage to design my own gardens, went to university in Kansas (biology), but didn't get to Norway until I was 60. Oddly, I also became a bit like Halliburton (writing and traveling). |
