I don't know if this is a viable option today, but when I was in college in the 70's, I wrote a few songs (which weren't great, by the way). But I was told to take the words and a cassette (music) and mail them to yourself via registered mail. Store that mail safely away in the eventuality you need to prove you wrote it. They called it the "poor man's" copyright.

Probably not needed for something published on WDC, which provides a creation date and time stamp for your writing.
