Like most of the folks here, I started writing when I was a little kid. I never thought of it as work, though–well, it turned into work when I had to write for school. Writing for me was a survival tactic. What did I want to do? When I was little and clueless, I wanted to be an actress or a singer (so everyone would admire me  ), and when reality began to set in I dreamed of being a marine biologist (inspired by Madeline L'Engle's The Arm of the Starfish).
