Was there a time before I was interested in writing? I think not; I was discouraged for a bit because of a horseshit teacher, but I was just stubborn enough not to let her rob me of my first love. Second on the list was reading, go figure. I've always had other interests and hobbies, but none as strong as my love for writing.
