On a site like WdC you are going to get all sorts of reviews. People all have their own reviewing style, and all focus on something different. It is impossible for a reviewer to tell what a writer wants, and so a reviewer will review the way they feel most comfortable. I am sorry you have felt belittled; I am sure that is not the goal of a reviewer, but that they genuinely want to help.
