The rating system has already received a major overhaul in which the half-stars were implemented - effectively broadening the range from 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 to 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100. Re-coding the rating system now would disrupt the conventional methods that people are used to dealing with and could result in a site-wise loss of ratings for all items.

This idea has also been suggested and shot down, mainly because keeping the ratings displayed as opposed to hidden helps the readers on the site determine whether or not an item would be worth their time.
