Good question,

         Kudos (pronounced'kü-"däs) means praise given for achievement. I (Crickado Author Icon) wanted to make an award that was slightly below Honorable Mention. I wanted to "praise" some of the stories that didn't place, but deserved mentioning. Kudos just seemed to fit. I believe, though I am not certain, that Kudos has its roots as a Greek term.
