One key part of writing is character development. There are many techniques available to assist writers in developing their characters so readers can connect and come away with a good understanding of the character and their motives. This contest explores those techniques.
Character Prompt for March 2020:
Your character is returning home again after being away for a long time.
They can be looking forward to returning home, or dreading it.
They can return as triumphant, or as a failure in whatever it is they left to do.
Write the story of your character's homecoming experience.
The task is simple: Write a short story using the prompt above as inspiration.
Your entry must be:
Based on the prompt above. Your character should be well developed and integrated into the story narrative.
Rated 18+ or lower. Graphic content is not permitted, including GC or XGC items.
2,000 words or less. A word count must be included in the body of your item (top or bottom, not in the intro/header).
Newly written for this contest. Create your entry as a Static Item and keep it in your portfolio. Submit it using the survey form below.

Each judge will submit a scoring for qualifying entries to the contest. In the event a judge can not complete the judging, their scores will not be used, and at our discretion, a judging substitution may be used. In the event of a tie, staff will render the tie-breaking decision.
