Dad, narrating a nursery rhyme in our native language, Kutchhi (a dialect of Gujarati)
Dad has always lived in a city and gotten his water from the tap.
However, on his visit to rural areas, he watched water being drawn from the river or the well. Earthenware pots were used for this.
This poem is in our native language, Kutchhi. Kutchhi is a dialect of Gujarati and has no script of its own. Thus, the vocabulary varies from district to district.
The poem speaks of a tiny pot of water (Matuki) personified as a person carrying another pot of water (ghagar). The other pot being much biggger than Matuki, she drops it and it falls.
