Todd was rapidly losing conscious. He and the remote were still glued to Claire's sticky sole and while the temperature in her flat was better than her gym sneaker, it wasn't by much. Her foot began to rapidly trample him, jerking him up and down at a speed he wasn't sure was possible. As the life was literally being stomped out of him, Todd began to welcome the end. The ball of her foot suddenly crunched down on him with more pressure than ever and then everything blacked out.
Claire ran down the school halls, which were now almost empty. She was extremely late. She turned the corner, pivoting on the ball of her foot, when suddenly everything went white.
When her vision returned she felt like she was in a furnace. Walls stretched up all around her and an omnipresent, yet familiar odor assaulted her senses. Trembling, Claire looked down, shrieked and jumped back when she realized she was standing on top of someone. She fell backwards onto the slimy ground with a thick squelch and flinched at the feel. Where the hell was she?
The person she was standing on groaned in pain. He was covered in a thick residue of grime and filth and seemed just barely hanging on. Next to him was something that looked like a television remote. She reached down and grabbed it and was surprised at how hot it was to the touch. It too, was smeared with a gross sheen but she could see on the LCD panel display something about a battery being empty. She then kneeled down to the guy she was standing on.
"Um, h-hello? Are you okay?" Claire said, almost with a whisper.
Todd only groaned in response, his words barely were coherent.
"What is going on... where am I?" Claire looked around more and found herself wincing with each breath. "And what is that smell?"
"S...h..." Claire wheeled around as Todd struggled to make words.
"What? Who are you? What are you trying to say?!"
Todd had realized what had happened, thought it was hard for him to get his throat working. His entire body felt like one giant bruise. The remote was still under the girl's foot and went off, shrinking her. Now they were both trapped in her flat god knows where.
"Y..you..... shrunk...." Todd managed to gasp out. He finally was able to get a good look at the girl who minutes ago was a titan crushing his existence away.
"I... shrunk?! What the hell are you talking about?" Claire was beginning to get scared. What the hell was going on?
Todd groaned in pain as began to sit up. Claire helped him along the way, trying her best to ignore the filth he was encrusted with. She wiped her hands on her pants.
"Th-that remote... it shrinks things..." Todd said, pausing to cough and hack. "y-you stepped on me.... and it must've went off, shrinking you down as well..."
Claire's eyes widened. She looked around the environment once more in terror, realizing this boy wasn't lying. This was her shoe. Only the size of a stadium. She looked down at her feet. Sure enough, only her left shoe was on. The right one was nowhere to be found. Because they were in it. She then blushed when she realized the oppressive odor bearing down on her was from her own foot.
"Oh my god. Oh my god oh my god. How did this happen?! I stepped on you?!" Claire had a million questions.
Todd spat out what must've been a glob of foot dirt. "When you were in the bathroom. You took your shoes off or something. I've been stuck to your foot ever since. Thank god I didn't shrink a second time." Todd motioned to the remote in Claire's hand. That's right! The remote!
"G-god... I'm sorry...." Claire stammered. She didn't know what to say. That would've meant the poor guy was stuck under her during gym class. No wonder he reeked...
"How do I make this make us big again?"
"We have to wait for it to charge, now. You just used up the battery." Todd sounded annoyed. He was much more clear now, his cognition was slowly returning to him.
"But-" before Claire could say any more the ground began violently trembling. Both her and Todd fell to the grimy insole. Claire was confused until she realized her shoe must be laying in the middle of the hall. Someone must be coming...
