Chapter #5

Alia Alone

    by: Draconic Chronicler
The Chief of the Goblins held a sword to Alia's throat and shouted to Rune, "Bronze Dragon, do as I say or I will kill your rider."

Seeing that she could do nothing without risking Alia's death, the dragon humbly bowed her head in submission.

Sneering because of his power over a great dragon, the Goblin chief ordered, "First you fat pig of a dragon, vomit up my warriors, for some may still be alive."

Rune replied, "Your wish is my command, Oh Chief, but to do so you'll have to undo the chains, for I must raise my body up to heave. You don't have to worry for you have my rider. And be quick about it for they will not last long with the acid and lack of air."

The Goblin Chief weighed his options. The monster had swallowed his brother and oldest son. Could he just kill the dragon, he wondered. No the monster allowed itself to be bound because the woman was held hostage. But it would not submit to death, and their weapons could not penetrate its thick hide. Plus, with the woman as a hostage and the great dragon undrer his control, he would become the greatest Goblin Chief in the land.

"Very well", he said , "unchain the dragon".

Rune raisied her back legs high and dipped the front of her body low and began to hack. In a few moments a great lumpy mass could be seen quickly moving up here throat, and a moment later, with a great retching sound she vomited the mass of writhing, choking goblins, as well as gallons of stinking, acid vomit all over Alia and the Goblin Chief, knocking them both down.

Her head immediately darted forward to snap up the Chief, shaking the sword out of his hand before bolting him down. And before any of the goblins could react, she snatched up Alia, and with her stomach nearly empty, leaped into the air, and to safety.

Rune dropped Alia on a rock ledge way from the Goblins, and went back to wreak her revenge. With their leader devoured, the Goblins were demoralized, and seeing the dragon return, caused them to break formation and flee into the woods.

This was their death sentence, for divided they were nothing but morsels of dragon food, and Rune began the chase gobbling them up as they ran, and when the remainder went into hiding, her senstive nose ferreted them out. Very few escaped, and again too heavy to fly, she slowly crawled back to the the spot of the first battle, and gulped down the struggling and dead goblins in the pool of vomit, and like a dog lapped up all of here mess.

Content and sluggish with her enormous, meal she lulled off to sleep not realizing she had left Alia on a ledge, covered in dragon vomit.

Alia paced back in forth on the small rock ledge, wondering what became of her dragon partner. She itched, and stunk horribly but there was nothing around to clean the slime off with save for chips of sharp stone. It would be dark soon, and dangerous predators would begin to lurk, and she wasn't sure if here terrible smell would attract or repel them. It looked like there was was a way she could climb to the bottom, but then what? Without her huge companion as protection, she would never make it back to a human settlement. She weighed her options:

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Alia decides to wait out the night on the ledge,

2. Alis climbs down the mountain in search of Rune.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
