Shinobi can use just a small amount of Chakra. While the Kunoichi have some of the most powerful techniques in the entire world, the Shinobi have a little bit of backbone in society as they are the ideal defense for some of the more immobile of Kunoichi.
Shinobi can do several of the things that a Kunoichi cannot do, such as stealth and defense, while Kunoichi are the exact opposite. Although the Shinobi chakra reserve is barely above average, the Kunoichi can use chakra transfer techniques to aid them in a dire situation. However, there are some techniques the Shinobi don’t need the Kunoichi for.
If someone has a naturally high chakra reserve, like the Senju’s and the Uzumaki’s, then they can be on par with a rookie Kunoichi. But a jinchuuriki, that is a whole different scale, what with the power of a tailed beast, a being of pure chakra, linked to the Shinobi. Some of the techniques a shinobi can use is the shadow clone jutsu, summoning jutsu, rasengan, senjutsu, weak nature transformations, Puppet usage, Eight Gates release, Super Beast drawings, and more.
There are forbidden ways to improve chakra reserves, like the curse marks. Another way that is somewhat not illegal, but considered amoral sometimes is body augmentations, such examples include the White Zetsu and even the first hokage, who was considered a god after his death. Another example of improved chakra reserves is the kekkei genkai, especially a dojutsu, allowing shinobi to be equal to a rookie Kunoichi.
There are some examples who don’t even need Kunoichi for battle. This includes the Inuzuka clan and their dogs, the Aburame clan and their insects, the Nara clan and their shadows, the Akimichi clan with naturally portly builds, and possibly others.
But there are those that can fight well without their opposites, and these are the Kage. But during the academy days, teams of two are made for the up and coming ninja of the world. Teams can have as many as a single member to 4 members. But, the teams aren’t usually made of just genin of a single village. Such examples in the past are young ANBU prodigies with random genin, genin from Sunagakure and Konohagakure. But a somewhat common tradition done is the merging of teams, mostly for missions only, due to the fact that the ninja teams are to be together...Forever.
