"Jackie can get a airline ticket with my money and fly down to join us. I have plenty of savings, so buying a ticket and hotel room shouldn't be a problem. Worst case, if she has trouble getting a flight, we might be there a day or two ahead of her. The two weeks for the honeymoon will give us some time to come up with a more long-term plan on how to handle this."

Your mom's reasoning appears very sound and so you and Jackie follow her plan. You stay a little longer to discuss how to manage the ceremony but then need to leave as the rest of the wedding party starts to arrive. The bridesmaids start to shuffle you off, so you give Jackie a hug and kiss on the cheek and whisper "we'll get through this" to her.

You go to meet your groomsmen and get dressed. You keep busy for the next couple hours until the ceremony is about to begin. You take your place at the front of the church and wait nervously. As the wedding begins, one of your groomsmen escorts Jacqueline to her seat near the front. She has composed herself but you can tell that she's on the verge of tears. To all obervers, though, she appears to simply be an emotional mother on her son's wedding day.

The Bridal Chorus begins to play and Jackie's father escorts your mother into the sanctuary. You stare as she walks down the aisle. Jackie's body looks absolutely gorgeous and for a few moments you're able to forget that she's not your actual fiancee. Her normally long brown hair is put up in elegant curls on her head. Her makeup draws you into her large eyes, and her face is like an angels. She takes your hand as the father passes her off and takes his seat. The ceremony begins.

You're not sure how much of it is 'normal' wedding nerves and how much is the unusual circumstance of marrying your mother in your lover's body - but you feel detached throughout the wedding ceremony, as if you're in a dream or trance. You look into the eyes of the beautiful bride beside you and let yourself believe that she IS the woman you love. She squeezes your hand comfortingly and smiles. When the minister finally pronounces "you may kiss the bride", you embrace your new wife and give her a deep, passionate kiss. She hesitates for a second, then returns your kiss with apparent fervor.

When you pull apart and face the audience, you see your mother's tear-streaked face and the reality of what is happening comes back to you. Others watching would assume that it's just a mother crying at such a special moment in her son's life, but you know that her sorrow is over seeing your mother take her place at what should be her wedding.

You and your mother walk down the aisle to the applause of your friends and family. They are dismissed to go to the reception while the wedding party remains for pictures. You and your mother manage to make it through the next hour or so, putting on fake and loving smiles for the photographer. Jackie wipes away her tears and reapplies her makeup, appearing once more as the dutiful mother for the wedding pictures. Finally, you're all done and leave for the reception.
