Jungle

Shock, relief, and a sudden fear of never finding your way out, all slam together inside your mind, weakening your knees. Sitting helps, but now you have nothing to do but contemplate your situation.

You know you are surrounding by deep green rain forest. Tall trees with sprawling roots, wide-leafed shrubs, and tiny flowers on vines winding their way up tree trunks are not found in deserts or even temperate woodlands. Assuming you are still in Mexico, the presence of a rain forest also means you are as far from the border as it is possible to get. You might be near the east coast, or you might be near the southern border, but you are definitely a long way from Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

This was not the way you expected this trip to unfold.
