Caitlin encounters an industrial spy

And before she could go down to the lobby and out to the parking lot and to her car, she had to get her purse. Only as she was leaving her office did she remember that she had left it in Todd Morris's office after her stripping earlier today. Annoyed at being forced to cover herself with only a clipboard, she'd stormed off without it. Her car and apartment keys were in it, along with her cell phone. She couldn't leave without it.

She could remember exactly where in Todd's office she'd left it. She knew he wouldn't have touched it.

Todd Morris's office door was unlocked, as always. He never locked it at any time of day or night. She opened it and slipped through into the outer office. The door to her boss's office was on the far wall, behind a receptionist's desk and a couple of tables. She went over an opened this door, then slipped through.

Only when the door was closed did she realize that a large man dressed in a dark suit was kneeling behind Todd's desk and going through Todd's open safe. Before she could react, before her brain could even begin to process what this meant, he was on his feet. He covered the several feet between them in a few strides. He grabbed her by the upper arms.

"Who are you?"

"Caitlin."

"What are you doing here?"

"I left my purse here earlier."

"Why don't you have any clothes on?"

Caitlin explained. When she was finished, she said, "What are you doing?"

"I'm looking for the plans for the Skylark." The Skylark was a spaceplane her company was developing, a project that would establish their reputations forever. "Your boss makes it easy. His idea of security is a joke."

Caitlin was appalled. She'd had no idea that he kept sensitive documents in his unlocked office.

But right now, she had another problem. "What are you going to do to me?"

"Well, I've got what I came fore. I need time to get away."
