Amelia had not shoved much beyond half the length of the stick before she knows she has hurt the dragon. Unfortunately hurt and killed are vitally different here. But there is no choice but to finish pushing.
As she does, the dragon erupts in furious pained action. Amelia has the satisfaction of knowing the dragon is going to regret eating her. But she only has a moment to be satisfied before the dragon's convulsions knock her out.
How much later Amelia wakes, she has no idea. But the dragon is still now, very still. Has she done it? Is the dragon dead? It would seem so.
But this does not save her. No more acid is being produced and she is not going to die quick, but dying slowly is not a clear improvement. She must still get out of here.
The obvious way is the throat, and to do that, she needs to turn around, a task that proves difficult, but doable now that the stomach muscles have relaxed.
But there is a lump in her way. The little dragon. Is it ok? Or did it get seriously hurt in the convulsions?
